Tall Ships Charleston is bringing together the largest gathering of Tall Ships in the United States, including the USCG EAGLE, the Pride of Baltimore, sail training vessels from Romania (Mircea) and Mexico (Cuauhtemoc), plus many more. These magnificent vessels exhibit true craftsmanship, as well as a look into a bygone era of naval history.A "Meet the Artist" reception for the exhibit takes place Thursday 1-8 p.m. and includes original works from the following artists: Tami Cardnella, Susan Colwell, Lese Corrigan, Christine Crosby, Kaytee Esser, Karen Hewitt Hagan, Bill Jameson, Tiffany Maser, [J. Michael Kennedy], Daryl Knox, Saul Krawcheck, Nancy Langston, Amelia Rose Smith, Susan Mayfield West and John Duckworth (also the creator of this year's Maritime Festival poster artwork).
The artist's reception is open to the public and is free.The Charleston Maritime Festival is to be centered at the Charleston Maritime Center with Tall Ships on display at the pier, festivities taking place on the grounds, and additional activities in Ansonborough Field located on Concord Street, one block south of the S.C. Aquarium.
